Electromagnet Performance Notice
The holding force of this electromagnet is determined under ideal test conditions. Maximum magnetic attraction is achieved when the contact surface is flat, clean, and smooth, free of irregularities, and the attracted material is thick-section, low-alloy carbon steel.
In real applications, the holding force may decrease significantly depending on operating conditions. Factors such as surface roughness, irregularities, air gaps, paint or coating layers, rust, dirt, thin materials, and high-alloy or stainless steels negatively affect magnetic performance.
Under such non-ideal conditions, the effective holding force may decrease to up to 50% or more of the nominal values.
For optimum performance, it is recommended that the electromagnet makes direct contact with a clean, flat, smooth, and uncoated ferromagnetic surface. Additionally, an appropriate safety factor should be considered in system design.
