Large and Very Strong Part-time Electromagnet, IP65 Standard

These electromagnets, Ø275x110 mm, P275/110 (275 mm in diameter, 110 mm in height), used for transportation purposes, are frequently preferred in lid, pipe and box transportation services.

This product, which is used in test devices, receives a different command after a certain period of time after lifting the sample and releases the sample back. It is also used in sheet metal transportation. Despite their small structure, they have a high gravitational force. Our electromagnets are waterproof. They have voltage capability at DC 5V, 12V and 24V levels. We produce electromagnets in desired diameter and size. They have 500.000 lifetime. Operating temperature is between -10°C and 100°C.

What is Full Time and Part Time Operation?

Electromagnets work with electric current. We produce electromagnets that work with 5V, 12V, 24V, 48V, 48V, 110V and 220V. The more voltage you give an electromagnet, the greater the attraction power. However, this creates a danger of heating and burning. When high voltage is applied, it should therefore not be applied for a long time. In these time-based electromagnets, those that can work 24/7 are called full-time electromagnets, while the other productions are called part-time electromagnets.

For example, while a full-time electromagnet fed with 12V offers 40 kg attraction force, when you feed this electromagnet with 24V, it starts to heat up after a while. The degree of heating is different for each product. Small electromagnets can overheat after a certain period of time when fed with 24V, while large diameters can be fed with 48V.

Working Principle of Electromagnets

An electromagnet is an industrial component that generates a holding force by creating a magnetic field around an iron core through the electric current passing through its coil. The table below summarizes the general principles.

Electromagnet working logic, components, duty cycle and applications

Topic Description
Basic Principle When a DC voltage (e.g. 12V or 24V) is applied, the current flowing through the coil creates a magnetic field around the core and attracts metal surfaces.
Main Components Coil (winding), iron core, housing, connection cables, and where needed a resin coating (heat dissipation/insulation).
Strength of the Magnetic Field Current (A), voltage (V), number of windings, core material, and the cleanliness/tolerance of the contact surface determine the holding force.
Duty Cycle 50% duty: Operates for a set period and then rests (for heat management).
100% duty: Suitable for continuous operation; typically a heat-resistant/resin-coated design.
Polarity (Poles) When the current direction changes, the N–S poles reverse. This is an advantage in direction-controlled applications.
Behavior on Power Loss Standard electromagnet: Holding force is lost when power is cut.
Permanent-magnet type: Holding continues when power is cut and releases when power is applied (fail-safe).
Heating and Cooling Heating occurs due to coil resistance. The correct duty cycle, adequate cooling, and a suitable mounting surface are critical for lifespan/performance.
Applications Industrial lifting/holding, automation and robotic grippers, door locks, brake/release mechanisms, CNC and assembly lines.
Advantages Controllable magnetic force, fast response, remote actuation, depending on the application either fail-safe release or fail-safe hold.
